Removal of common food and beverage spills
- Immediately scrape up as much of the spill as possible. Then
blot to remove excess residue. Use a wet/dry vacuum if the spill
is large.
- Douse spill with warm water (not hot) and blot with a cloth.
Avoid rubbing the stain as this causes abrasion to the carpet
and fluffs the pile.
- If the stain remains visible on the carpet make a solution of
warm water and a non-bleach solution. Try to avoid liquid type
cleaners. Washing powder or laundry detergent works well - one
teaspoon to one quarter of a pint of water.
- Apply enough of the solution to cover the stain and let it soak
into the carpet for approximately 5minutes.
- Rinse with warm water and blot thoroughly to extract water.
Repeat until all the detergent is removed.
- Absorb remaining moisture with layers of plain white kitchen
roll/towel, weighted down overnight with a non-staining object
(glass or ceramic)
- Vacuum when completely dry.
Please note that the information provide is a guideline and is
not guaranteed to remove every stain. Always test an inconspicuous
area for colour fast before applying any cleaning agents to your
carpet.
