The
carpets in your home or business represent a significant investment
for you. To protect that investment and extend the life of your
carpet you should have your carpets professionally cleaned at least
every 12-18 months. Commercial premises with very high foot traffic
should consider cleaning their carpets more often 2- 4 months. Regular
cleaning of your carpet will not harm it unless of course the person
doing the cleaning is not properly trained and making mistakes like
over wetting or using too much solution or even the wrong solution
for your carpet.
Carpets
are exposed to dirt, pollen and other allergens, cigarette smoke
and odours, mould, fungus, pet hairs, pet stains, dropped food and
spilled drinks etc... Your carpets can look clean and still be a
breeding ground for germs, bacteria and other micro organisms. Allow
Allclean to restore the look, feel and hygiene of your carpets.
Keeping your carpet clean prolongs its looks and of course the life
expectancy. Walking on a dirty carpet causes much more wear than
walking on a clean carpet. The reason for this is sharp edge particles
are being worked into the carpet and begin rubbing like sandpaper
causing the fibres of the carpet to deteriorate. Carpets are dirty
long before they look dirty.
The best thing you can do for your carpet is to vacuum it frequently
and correctly. If you have a family and pets you should vacuum the
high traffic areas as least once a day. Correctly vacuuming your
carpet is also very important;
- Always have the cleaner head set at the correct height for the
carpet pile.
- Vacuum slow enough so that the suction of the cleaner can draw
the soiling out of the carpet. Many people move the vacuum cleaner
so fast across the carpet that the loose soiling and dust just
doesn't make it up the hover and disperses itself back into the
carpet pile.
You should get a fibre protector (i.e., Stain guard, Guardsman,
Teflon etc...) applied to your carpets about once every 2 years.
Cleaning your carpet dose not wash the protector off but it dose
wear off in time. Applying a carpet protector makes cleaning much
easier and builds up a resistance to many types of stains.
"What works better "dry" or "steam" cleaning?".
The answer is, it all depends on the most important thing; the cleaner
who is doing the cleaning for you, the method itself doesn't matter
as all methods work great when used correctly and the right choice
of cleaning for the appropriate situation is applied. If you or
someone you know, was unhappy with a carpet cleaning job chances
are the reason is the technician did a poor job not the method of
cleaning that was used.
